What area does your research focus on?
My research interests are varied. Clinical research interests include leadership and management, clinical supervision and mentoring, patient safety, nutrition and disease, acute medicine, and health inequalities. Academic research interests are teaching and learning to explore the student’s journey, student assessment and UDL.
I also have a huge passion for sociology and exploring the inequality within society including Equality and Diversity and oppression against marginalised groups and linking this to power, social class and health inequality outcomes and policies, exploring housing, education and opportunities. Throughout my professional career, I have gained extensive experience working across various sectors within healthcare and being within management.
What are the other key aspects of your role?
I am a deputy module lead for 2 programmes for postgraduate nursing students level 6 and level 7. I am a dissertation supervisor for students, a supervisor for nurse prescribing and a personal academic tutor for international students and I am a huge advocate for international student integration and support. I am module lead for several postgraduate CPD short courses. I am part of several EDI staff networks and an advocate.
I am currently studying my MSC Inequality and Society within the Sociology department and once complete will be commencing a PHD. I am an associate member of FUSE health inequalities.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my 2 sons, I love walking, hiking and running, the gym, listening to music and podcasts, practicing yoga, reading and researching!
