Lecturer in Sports, Exercise and Rehabilitation

What area does your research focus on?

My research is on marginalised athletes such as women and girls of colour, and those from low- and middle-income settings such as in Africa. It focuses on the intersection of biology, race, gender, society and culture, and economics in female athletic participation, performance, injury rehabilitation, and sports medicine policy.

What are the other key aspects of your role?

I am module lead on modules in critical appraisal of evidence in clinical exercise physiology, a member of the EDI committee in the department and I conduct lectures on intersectionality in clinical practice (physiotherapy and sports science).

What do you like to do outside of work?

I am an avid, though mediocre, pole artist and triathlete. I like (not the same as being good) cooking, and hiking.

What do you think you could particularly offer mentoring support with?

Developing your research journey and story while navigating the loneliness that comes with oftentimes being the only person in the room who looks like you.
